AVRM Newsletter Sept 2019 Vol.3 No.4
A whirlwind of excitement and activity
The 2019 Fair is over and the sweet treats and carnival delights are packed up and gone, or in some cases, eaten!
Our museum groundbreaking was a highlight with our Board of Directors, Fair Board members, Lancaster City Council members, and several past AVRM Directors. What a wonderful accomplishment of the AVRM Board to receive the checks from Supervisor Barger’s office and the City of Lancaster for $100,000.00 each, although the City of Lancaster upped the ante by $1.00 to have a bigger check than the County. Friendly competition is always great. I would also like to thank Debbie Dino for manning the Museum during the Rural Olympics so all of our Board of Directors could attend the Groundbreaking Ceremony. Our two Fair Directors, Debbie Dino and Gary Van Dam, have been doing a tremendous job for us, Thank you.
Now that we have construction started, we must continue fundraising to finish construction and then onto phase 2 of the building. Please plan to attend our Annual Night at the Rural Museum on Sept 28 from 5 to 8 p.m. – Ticket cost $50.00.
We received a note to the community from R. Rex Parris that was very complimentary. We thank the Mayor for his comments. Please see page 2 for the Mayor’s note.
FUNDRAISER DINNER
Can we count on you to support the ground-breaking effort of the AV Rural Museum by purchasing a ticket (or two…) to our ‘ANNUAL NIGHT AT THE RURAL MUSEUM’ to be held on Saturday, September 28th 5 – 8 p.m.? If you are not able to attend, a donation would be very much appreciated!
The dinner will be held at the Antelope Valley Rural Museum at the Fairgrounds, 2551 West Avenue H. Please enter at Gate #3. Tickets are $50 each and are available from any director, on our website, or e-mail Bill Rawlings at [email protected].
